Hikurangi skatepark is located just north of Whangārei near Lake Waro, and we’re excited to share our design for the upcoming redevelopment project.

The original skatepark was built to accommodate intermediate to advanced level users, with steep transitional features and traditionally large funboxes.

Our redesign aims at maintaining the vibe of the park with renewed fun boxes, rails, banks, quarter-pipes and the introduction of a large bowl.

It’s important for us to design parks that flow so that users can maximise their activity while utilising the facility, we’ve also focused on the placement of skatepark furniture to allow for more space for riders to maneuver around without cutting into each other's lines.

The new Hikurangi skatepark aims at accommodating all skill levels while maintaining features that encourage growth in wheeled-play sports. We’re stoked to be presenting this design and to see the development of high-standard skateparks in the north.
