Project Details

Rich Landscapes was commissioned by Hamilton City Council to conduct skatepark audits at three of the city’s key facilities: Nawton Skatepark, Fairfield Skatepark, and Melville Skatepark. These audits provided council with an independent overview of current conditions, helping guide future maintenance and potential redevelopment works.

Scope of Work

  • Site Inspections
Detailed on-site assessments were carried out at all three locations. These focused on surface condition, feature integrity, fencing, drainage, and landscaping.
  • Skate Element Review
We assessed the relevance, layout, and condition of key skateable features such as rails, ledges, transitions, banks, and stairs — with observations on usability and overall flow.
  • Safety & Maintenance Issues
Safety risks such as cracked concrete, surface degradation, damaged fences, and poorly positioned elements were recorded and mapped for each park.
  • Renewal & Upgrade Opportunities
The audits included annotated site plans, photo documentation, and cost estimates for both remedial repairs and long-term upgrade options.
